NEET 2026 Counselling Alert — KJ Somaiya, SMBT & Walawalkar Now Deemed Universities

This is an urgent update for Maharashtra domicile students waiting for NEET UG 2026 admission process to begin.

Which Colleges Are Affected?

The following Maharashtra medical colleges have received approval to transition from Private Med/lisical College to Deemed University status:

  • K.J. Somaiya Medical College, Mumbai
  • SMBT Medical College, Nashik
  • BKL Walawalkar Medical College, Ratnagiri

What Changes From This Year?

  • These colleges will no longer participate in Maharashtra State Counselling
  • Admissions will now be conducted through MCC All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling as Deemed Universities
  • Fee structure and seat matrix will also change under Deemed University rules

What Must Students Do?

If you were planning to apply to any of these colleges through Maharashtra State Counselling — you must now register for MCC AIQ Counselling instead. Missing this change could mean losing a seat you were eligible for.

Important Note

This update is not yet reflected on official counselling websites. The necessary changes are expected to be published on mcc.nic.in soon. Students should keep checking for official notification before taking any action.
